I'm in the process of moving out of my one bedroom apartment in Salt Lake City to hit the road and work remote. See some new places, spend too much on monthly rentals (I'm not a van down by the river kind of guy), work my cybersecurity job remotely.
Everyone hates moving, I know that it's not a new complaint. But it always shocks my how. much. stuff. I. have. I don't consider myself a big shopper but I have somehow amassed all this crap. I considered myself a person of few clothing items, but they just kept coming. Packing has taken me way longer than I thought.
Minimalism in possessions is something I am interested in, it seems like a moral victory in an increasingly consumer-driven world. It's fun to think about. But it's hard to do naturally. I think one needs to actually dedicate some brain power to becoming a minimalist. Which was probably obvious to everyone but me. I just thought being frugal would be enough. Definitely not.
