Boys vs Men

Nah this isn't some redpilled rant about 21st century masculinity. I recently finished the finales of The Boys and Mad Men. The shows are interesting to compare because they followed opposite trajectories. The Boys got worse every season. Mad Men got better every season.

The simplest answer to why this happened is that Mad Men is just a much more competently made show. It was produced by a network interested in elevated television and not a conglomerate that's trying to destroy the world. Better writers, better direction, better performances.

But maybe it's just better because it's so much easier to be creative and give quality with a smaller and more grounded setting. Without expectation for something bigger. I think that's why half of my favorite movies are "men talking in rooms" movies. They're just fun.
